Background& purpose: The beneficial effects of plasma levels of Klotho protein on health and physical performance and the responses of molecular adaptations vary based on the type and dose of exercise. The aim of this study is to compare the acute and chronic response of this protein to plyometric and strength training interventions in soccer players. Methods: 40 subjects (age: 23.03 ± 5 years; height: 175.3 ± 3 cm; weight: 75.73 ± 5 kg; experience in football team: 3.3 ± 0.2 years) were selected voluntarily and trained in a plyometric and strength training program for 8 weeks. To examine acute and chronic responses, blood samples were taken before and after the training and at the end of the training, both groups participated in 30 min of downhill running on a treadmill with a -15% slope and an intensity of 70% VO2MAX. Blood samples were taken again immediately and 48 hours after the exercise. Two-way analysis of variance (time-by-group interaction) was used to determine the presence of differences between group means. Results: Plasma Klotho levels increased in response to 8 weeks of training in both groups compared to pre-training (chronic response (p</05)). The response of both groups to acute 30-minute exercise (immediately after exercise) showed a significant reduction compared to pre-training (p</05). However, after 48 hours of acute 30min exercise, a significant increase was observed in both groups. Conclusions: Overall, according to the results obtained, it was determined that both groups responded equally to 8 weeks of training (chronic response) and to 30min acute exercise.
